Paper Muses is a ReaderxWriter community, which means we work both ways. So, this is a community made for writers of all sorts. You can write anything, from poetry and prose to novels and fanfiction. If you have something you've written down you want to share with someone, you can put it here. We're a user-friendly community and will do anything to make you comfortable =)
Before you can become a part of the community there are some rules that have to be followed:
This is a community, and we want the whole group to be joined in. That means, if someone posted something, no matter how large or small, you give them your opinion.
Either comment or criticism, you have to back what you say up. So, don't say 'liekomgthatwassocute'. Tell the person what you actually thought of the story and don't give them some cut-off answer and some emoticons. Most writers would rather hear a strong opinionated criticism than a quicky comment.
Poetry may be posted, but try to keep them in one post. Don't post haiku after haiku in different posts. We don't want to clutter people's friends page and it's almost impossible to keep up with.
No flaming, no racism, no homophobia. Be open-minded. If you don't like the issue dealt with in a story, comment and say that you can't give an opinion because the issue touched upon is sensitive.
You make problems, you're gone. No warnings. If you want to wage a war with someone, do it in your own livejournal. Not here.
You don't have to introduce yourself, but of course it would be nice. Then we'll know who we are and we can actually be friendly with eachother.
Ofcourse, you can't read everything. You don't have to, but try to keep up. If you don't reply enough, you're risking being thrown out. But if you really aren't interested in what has been posted, place a comment to say so. Just remember to be polite.
Follow the instructions that can be found at 'Posting works'. Always use lj-cuts.
Always use the following form when posting works [fanfics, poems, ectetera] - it makes it easier to archive your work for us [Archive]:
What: What it is; a story, fanfic, poem? Title: The title Author: <lj user="your username"> If you're not comfortable with posting your work(s) with your username, please contact us and we'll post it for you (without revealing your identity) Genre: The genre(s) that fit best Ratings: (G,PG,PG-13,R,NC-17) Synopsis What the story is about, in short
<lj-cut text="whatever you'd like to name the link; the title or something"> Put the content here. </lj-cut>
I think I should point you to some things, to avoid future problems.
The stories and/or the community itself may contain things you find offending. Some examples: MalexMale (Yaoi, shounen-ai), WomanxWoman (Yuri, shoujo-ai), Certain religious beliefs, Violence, Sex.
We do not tolerate bashing/flaming.
We have the right to take anything you post off the community (offline).
If you post your work online, some/most publishers concider it already published and could/will refuse to publish it 'for real'.
We are in no way affiliated with any of the people in fanfics. We do not claim any of the fanfics to be true.
The stories posted here mostly are fiction.
The more the merrier, but promoting a community is hard. I decided to try and make it easier, by making some banners. Put them in your userinfo, or wherever you please. Even though this is not an obligation, we'd appreciate it greatly if you did. The code can be found underneath the banners.
